Forward aromas of grilled pineapple, guava and peach. Buttery texture with creamy pineapple, apricot and butterscotch flavors with an edge of tempering acids. A spate of tropical fruit caps the close with a lingering caramel sweetness.

Oakville Ranch, 2006 Napa Valley

Fine Quality Chardonnay: full bodied and quite fruity in style, with floral, oaky overtones. Very long on the finish. It tastes of apple, orange blossom, vanilla, toast, and roasted nut. 513 cases

2005 Chardonnay

88 Points Frontal theme of fresh pear and Gala apple make for a fine first aromatic impression here, and, with a bit of air, touches of citrus and vanilla-bean oak come into play. Although rounded on entry, the wine is slightly hard at the finish and its moderately rich oak-and-fruit flavors are narrowed by closing acidity. Time is on its side, however, and two or three years of patience will pay dividends.

2004 Robert's Blend - Cabernet Franc Excellent
The Oakville Ranch “Robert’s Blend” 2004, Napa Valley, is composed of 83 percent cabernet franc and 17 percent cabernet sauvignon. This is truly a serious wine; it’s dark and deep, profoundly spicy, indubitably tannic and minerally, bursting with the untamed wild blueberry, mulberry and dusty leather notes, the bitter chocolate and walnut shell of the best cabernet franc. Lots of gravity, broad dimension and detail — the wine feels fathomless, inexhaustible. In the practical sense, this should be consumed from 2010 to 2018 or ‘19; in the world of my fevered imagination, it feels ageless. The wine spends 25 months in French oak, 80 percent new barrels. Production was 122 cases (244 six-packs). Excellent.

Highly recommended...
Medium to medium-dark ruby; attractive, herbal, cedary, smoky, tarrish, cassis and black cherry fruit aroma wit notes of green olive and tobacco leaf; medium-full to full body; tight, herbal, cedary, chalky, peppery, blackberry fruit flavors; medium-full to full tannin; drying on the finish ; lingering aftertaste. Approachable now through deserves several more years of bottle aging. Highly recommended.

2003 Cabernet

90 Points  High in creamy oak and focused on its black cherry fruit with a slight curranty edge, this attractive wine is full on the palate and enticingly supple at entry before firming up towards the back. It is equally well-defined in its middling depth flavors, and its spine of youthful tannins makes it an odds-on favorite for rewarding growth with a few years in the cellar.  $60

88 Oakville Ranch 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley); $60
Ripe, dry and immature, this 100% Cab comes from a vineyard in the Vaca Mountains east of the Silverado Trail. It’s quite tight and tannic now, but shows a rich heart of blue and black stone fruits and berries.  Seems to have the balance to age, and should improve after 2008.

Best-ever Chardonnay from this winery. It is fragrant and complex in aroma (pear, toast, orange peel, vanilla, roasted nut), and full bodied, supple, fairly rich, and long on the palate, with a persistent finish. 580 cases (2007-2008)
